Customer communication: Exponential-e’s latest update for the Coronavirus (CovID:19) situation: 24/03/2020
As the situation across the UK continues to develop following the additional "stay at home" measures announced yesterday, we would like to share with you the latest updates and how these may impact you.
A number of the UK's fibre providers, including Openreach, have today issued statements advising that effects of the increased restrictions are seriously impacting day-to-day operational activities. This means that moving forward, our fibre partners will be prioritising essential work only and minimising any work that requires engineers to enter customer premises in order to comply with social distancing guidelines.
We understand that the main impact of this prioritisation will be on the provision of new fibre deliveries, with orders largely put "on hold" until 1st June. If you do have any connectivity orders in a project stage that are essential to the safe running of the UK during this period, please speak directly with your Provisioning Co-ordinator or your Project Manager so that we can work with you and our partners to try to find a way forward.
This prioritisation allows the industry to focus available resources on ensuring service stability which remains our priority. Encouragingly, many roles in telecoms have been identified as "key workers" recognising that the criticality of maintaining infrastructure is more important than ever right now. However, there is of course a risk that incident resolution will also be impacted, specifically where field engineering or site visits are required to restore service. Please do rest assured that Exponential-e and our fibre partners will continue to support your live services to the best of our ability with safe working practices reducing social interaction wherever possible.
Finally, I can confirm we are continuing to proactively monitor our platforms and we are operating within safe boundaries with headroom where needed. Exponential-e's main support functions continue to operate business as usual; our teams are ready to support you with any advice, guidance, support or changes you may require in this current situation.
Of course, we will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep you updated.
