Delivering resilient, high-performance connectivity for global broadcasts

Delivering-resilient-high-performance-connectivity-for-global-broadcasts

Global broadcasts place incredible demands on infrastructure, which must offer the performance and resilience required to accommodate the anticipated spikes in viewership. Exponential-e has worked closely with a number of world leaders across the broadcasting and media sector, providing fully integrated solutions that ensure their connectivity is of the very highest quality, freeing their own teams to focus on the broadcast itself, safe in the knowledge that they can completely depend on their technological foundation, no matter how many viewers around the world tune in.

Looking back at a historic royal occasion, ten years on

A number of teams from Exponential-e played an active part in the broadcast of the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011, working throughout the event to provide first-class connectivity for a number of leading broadcasters - including CBS News and Bell Media Canada - ensuring coverage of the ceremony was of the very highest quality, befitting a truly historic occasion.

Elements of this ambitious deployment included direct 10Gb links in New York and connections to Exponential-e's own UK-based layer 2 IP network, ensuring coverage from the media villages at Methodist Central Hall and Buckingham Palace was fully resilient throughout the day, with zero disruptions or drops in quality. SIP trunking and highly secure internet access were also provided, as part of a fully unified solution, with a dedicated team on-site to provide hands-on support whenever necessary.

Bell Media described the broadcast as the most watched Royal Wedding programming from any Canadian outlet, with more than 7 million viewers tuning in throughout the day. The resilience of the connectivity allowed more than 30 million additional viewers throughout Latin America and Europe to enjoy the coverage via pull feeds.

Providing a solid foundation for leading broadcasters' most demanding projects

Since then, in collaboration with our Channel Partners, we've provided connectivity for a range of other high-profile occasions, such as the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2018, the most recent season of a popular reality show, and several global sporting events. We continue to serve as a trusted technology partner for multiple leading broadcasters, including Channel 4, ensuring they have a robust technology foundation for the most anticipated broadcasts.

We look forward to helping bring more unforgettable events to viewers round the world!
