Cost advantages of IP networks but with the Quality of Leased Lines
Ubiqz, a leading security systems consultant, has become the first company to be appointed a security sector reseller by Exponential-e, a specialist provider of bespoke Ethernet-based wide area network solutions. The appointment enables Ubiqz to offer its customers ‘always.on’ networked security and because Exponential-e’s solutions do not touch the Internet, like some IP solutions, security and quality can be guaranteed. In addition the technology enables voice, data and video feeds to be delivered in real time over the same dedicated connection.
Both companies are confident that the benefits offered by Exponential-e’s unique approach will win over customers. Anand Subbiah, managing director Ubiqz, commented: “Currently if companies want a networked security solution they have two options: they either opt for a traditional solution which uses point to point leased lines to connect their sites, and pay the incredibly expensive price tag which comes with this type of solution, or they use an IP network. While the latter is a cheaper option it more often than not uses the public Internet and so quality and security become an issue.
“The solution offered by Exponential-e delivers the best of both worlds. You get the quality of the traditional approach with the cost-effectiveness of the IP approach. I am confident that their solutions will change the infrastructure aspect of the security market”.
Exponential-e’s approach to network design is unique and centres on creating dedicated, private networks for their customers within their own nationwide core infrastructure. Companies simply connect onto the network from their central office, from where virtual circuits are created to each remote location. At no point does it touch the public Internet, unless of course the customer requires Internet access over the same ‘pipe’.
